The 2014 Audi A7 ranks 5 out of 12 Super Luxury Cars. This ranking is based on our analysis of published reviews and test drives of the Audi A7, as well as reliability and safety data.

While its back seat may not be the most spacious in the class, test drivers agree that the 2014 Audi A7 offers a stunning interior, athletic handling and a refined turbodiesel engine.

Reviewers say that the base Audi A7 has plenty of power, thanks to a standard supercharged V6 engine. However, they’re most impressed with the new turbodiesel A7 TDI, noting that it features a smooth and responsive V6 engine that offers ample power from a stop or for highway passing maneuvers. An eight-speed automatic transmission is standard in both models, which earns praise for its quick, responsive shifts. The base 2014 A7 gets good fuel economy for the class at 18/28 mpg city/highway, while the A7 TDI’s 24/38 mpg estimates are outstanding for a super luxury car. Reviewers are pleased with the A7’s controlled, nimble handling, though some note that it rides firmly, which may dissuade shoppers who want a comfort-tuned driving experience. The A7 also wins points for its strong brakes and communicative steering, which critics say reinforce its enjoyable driving experience.

The A7 impresses critics with its graceful cabin design and opulent interior materials, which include wood or aluminum trim accents and soft leather upholstery. The Audi A7 stands out with a hatchback body style and more cargo space than most cars in the class, and test drivers appreciate its comfortable and supportive front seats. With the exception of the S7 and RS7, a rear bench seat is now standard for 2014, increasing seating capacity to five. Most reviewers agree that the A7’s sloping roofline may leave taller rear-seat passengers wanting more headroom. Although some members of the automotive press write that the standard navigation system could be easier to use, others appreciate the A7’s unique electronic features, which include maps provided by Google Earth and a touch pad that allows you to write in addresses with your fingertip. Standard features include a sunroof, a backup camera, front and rear parking sensors, tri-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, push-button start, a 10-speaker stereo, satellite radio, Bluetooth and an iPod interface. Features like Bose or Bang & Olufsen sound systems, four-zone automatic climate control, heated rear seats, adaptive cruise control and a heated steering wheel are optional or available on higher trims.
